  • 2007 Uitkyk Shiraz Special Reserve – South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch, Simonsberg-Stellenbosch (3/3/2019)

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Lovely nose of boysenberries, violets, plums and a hint of cassis. Full flavors of boysenberries, loganberries and plums. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink now. I cannot imagine this wine getting any better than it is at this moment. NOTE: the provenance on this bottle was impeccable. We purchased this in the tasting room and flew it back home with us and immediately into our temperature and humidity controlled cellar. (93 points)
