  • 2005 Domaine Roger Belland Meursault 1er Cru Santenots – France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru (4/10/2017)
WIMLNR (I failed to note a rating during tasting)

    Tasted blind.

Solid yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Big nose of hazelnuts, toast and anise framed over a slightly alcoholic nose. Flavors centered on mouth puckering lemon. Bright to tart acidity, full bodied. Drink over the short term.

My guess was this is Old World, France, White Burgundy, Chassagne Montrachet, 2015 Montrachet Chassagne Montrachet.

  • 2009 Earl Roger Belland Santenay 1er Cru “Gravières” – France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Santenay 1er Cru (3/10/2013)
    WIML91

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 2 hours.

Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Subtle and nimble nose of rose petals, berries and a hint of camphor. Flavors of berries, raspberries and cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink with air or hold. I’d hold. (91 points)
