  • 2003 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, Washington (12/25/2020)
    WIMLNR

Opened and served immediately. Followed over two hours. Revisited the next day.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose is a bit disjointed coming across a little alcohol heavy with plenty of dark chewy fruits like currants, plums and dark cherries. Flavors are a bit more balanced with black cherries, berries and plums. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink with a little air over the medium term. Not rated because of the nose being a bit out of whack on this bottle.

  • 2002 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, Washington (5/10/2020)
    WIMLNR

Tasted non blind. Glass decanted 30 minutes before serving. Followed over 3 hours. Never really opened up to reveal much in the way of fruit. Even smelled a little bit like volatile acidity upon opening.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of nail polish up front eventually followed by some notes of plums, black berries and black cherries. Flavors of black raspberries, black cherries and a bit of black boysenberry. Medium acidity, integrated tannin, full bodied. Drink now with an extended decant or maybe continue to hold? Saved about 1 glass for a follow up tasting 24 hours later.

Not rated due to the inconclusive results.
