    Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of barnyard, cassis, plum and a hint of pepper. Flavors of cassis, plum and black berries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold. (93 points)

A few of the Saturdays at One group got together for a few hours Sunday afternoon to sample some wine, eat some pizza and watch some of the Olympic games. Here are the results:

  • 2010 Van Loben Sels Chardonnay Conner Lee Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

    Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of lemon, vanilla, brown spices and talc. Flavors of yellow pears, yellow apples and a hint of mineral. Medium acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink now. (90 pts.)

  • 2005 Domaine Dominique Mugneret Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots – France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

    Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, a little dusty looking. Nose of asphalt, herbs, pepper, black berries and wet stones. Flavors of black berries, black raspberries and plums. Bright acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Hold. (91 pts.)

  • 2001 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova – Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

    Tasted non blind. Opened and allowed some air in the decanter for about 30 minutes to an hour before serving.

    Purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of mahogany, pepper, anise and berries. Flavors of currants, berries and plums. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Hold? Maybe it’ll flesh out in bottle? No rating at this time.

    Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of pepper, licorice and cherries. Flavors of black cherries, black berries and plums Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, full bodied. Drink now with some air or continue to hold. (92 pts.)
