  • 2000 Château La Couspaude – France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (5/7/2018)

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 90 minutes.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Lovely aged Bordeaux nose of saddle leather, cigar box, plums and mixed dark fruit. Juicy flavors of black berries, plums and Bing cherries on the medium to long finish. Bright to tangy acidity, firm tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold but I’d lean toward drink. Unlikely to improve and in about as good a spot as one could ask right now. (93 points)

  • 2000 Château La Couspaude – France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (8/16/2012)
    WIMLNR

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of violets, berries and cherries. Flavors of berries with a little cherry on the finish. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Seemed a little closed and tight so I’m going to extend out my remaining two bottles by two and four years each to allow more time in bottle. Therefore no rating on this bottle.
