    Tasted blind.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of grapefruit and orange rind. Flavors dominated by grapefruit. Bright acidity, medium body. Drink now.

This is obviously a ringer. It is not Chardonnay. Smells and taste precisely like a Sauvignon Blanc or Sauvignon Blanc Blend. (88 points)

  • 2001 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey – France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes (1/4/2017)
    WIML95

Tasted non blind. Served from 375 ml format.

Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of lychee, orange foam, almond and quince. Rich flavors of candied orange slices, honey and kumquat. Medium to bold acidity, full bodied. Rich and unctuous on the palate without being cloying. Could be a real stunner some day. Drink or hold but you’re definitely in no rush. Should continue to evolve in bottle for another decade if not more. (95 points)

  • 2000 Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru) – France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (3/21/2016)
    Tasted non blind.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose seemed oh so slightly corked to me. Barely showing some berries behind that mustiness. Took a taste on a flyer and was simple berries, linear, definitely not showing well compared to previous bottles. No rating as a result. (NR/flawed)
