  • 2000 Château La Couspaude – France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (5/7/2018)
    WIML93

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 90 minutes.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Lovely aged Bordeaux nose of saddle leather, cigar box, plums and mixed dark fruit. Juicy flavors of black berries, plums and Bing cherries on the medium to long finish. Bright to tangy acidity, firm tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold but I’d lean toward drink. Unlikely to improve and in about as good a spot as one could ask right now. (93 points)

  • 1986 Château Mouton Rothschild – France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (1/4/2018)
    WIML94

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.

Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of leather, smoke, berries and cherries. Flavors of berries and raspberries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink with a little air to blow off bottle funk and help awaken the wine after a long sleep or continue to hold. In theory plenty of years ahead for this bottle just now emerging from hibernation. • 2015 Château Haut Beaumard – France, Bordeaux, Entre-Deux-Mers, Graves de Vayres (4/10/2017)
    WIML88

    Tasted blind.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of grapefruit and orange rind. Flavors dominated by grapefruit. Bright acidity, medium body. Drink now.

This is obviously a ringer. It is not Chardonnay. Smells and taste precisely like a Sauvignon Blanc or Sauvignon Blanc Blend. (88 points)
