- 2003 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus-Ex Machina – France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (11/10/2015)
Tasted non blind.
Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Beautiful nose of violets, berries, plums and wet stones. Silky and supple flavors of berries, plums, cherries and minerals. Bright acidity, medium to firm tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold. I’ll hold my last bottle another 5 years plus or minus. This bottle was somewhere between near perfect and perfect. Force me to rate it and I’ll say WIML97 with room for improvement. (97 points)
