*** UPDATE ***
I last reviewed Suze on November 10, 2010. You can read that review here. The gist of that review is that Suze can sometimes be like a roller coaster; they can hit highs and lows all in the same evening. This visit was more like a train ride; no highs or no lows were hit, just a steady ride from start to finish.
I started the evening with the Seared Fois Gras. It was pretty well prepared, especially the moist and flavorful center. However, some of sear on the outside more resembled a char in some places. It wasn’t off-putting but definitely not perfectly prepared. I’d still recommend this dish with the one caveat.
My entrée for the evening was the off menu special Rack of Lamb. The larger, center chops were perfectly prepared as requested; medium rare. They were moist and flavorful as expected. However, the smaller, outside chops were more cooked to a medium. They were still fairly moist and flavorful, just not as much so as the medium rare chops. I’d still recommend this dish with the one caveat. I substituted one of the sides for an order of their garlic mashed potatoes. I would highly recommend this side dish. Smooth, creamy with a lovely essence of garlic throughout.
Service was very good throughout the evening. There are no complaints on that front. Unlike the last visit the kitchen was definitely on the ball this evening. Food came out at a good pace for such a large group.
Suze is a BYOB restaurant so if you’d like a bottle be sure and bring it. Some of the stemware is very acceptable so be sure and inquire about it if you’re not offered it up front. Corkage is $25.00 per bottle but that can be negotiated depending on your patronage with the restaurant.
Suze is opened daily for dinner only from 5:30PM until close. All major credit cards are accepted. Attire is business casual.
Suze: once again worth a visit.
